Araujia sericifera is an invasive tropical vine that is famous for catching both diurnal and nocturnal Lepidopteran flower visitors. This results from the long proboscides of these insects becoming wedged between the rigid anther wings of its flowers, giving rise to common names of ‘mothcatcher’ or ‘cruelplant’. Smaller insects may also be trapped in the corpusculum and are incapable of escaping as these insects are too small to remove pollinaria.
