Hyena attacks soldier
A 54-year-old soldier deployed in the Kruger National Park arrived in the Mediclinic Nelspruit after being bitten by a hyena on Sunday.

Great mystery surrounds the incident, as the soldier is believed to be a member of military information deployed on a project in the game park. His personal information may therefore not be disclosed.
The soldier was stationed at the Sand River base near Skukuza.
He and some of his companions were believed to have been on patrol on Sunday when they allegedly came across a hyena that had fallen into a trap.
The soldier apparently freed the animal from the trap. Moments after the animal was freed, he jumped over and bit the soldier by the hands and arm.
Apart from confirming that they are aware of the incident, the Game Reserve and the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) do not wish to comment on the matter.
Ike Phaahla, spokesperson for SANParks, only confirmed that they had investigated the incident and that the report had been handed over to the SANDF. All other questions he referred to the military.
Robyn Baard, spokesperson for Mediclinic Nelspruit, confirmed that the patient was in stable condition.
She also referred all enquiries to SANW.
