Flavour of the Month - Mar/Apr 2022: S118 Mhlambane Road
The S118 is an 8km long dirt road joining the H3 in the west to the S114 & S119 in the east. It follows the course of the seasonal Mhlambane river which after the S119 empties into the Crocodile river.
There's plenty of lush vegetation along the route and it's worth a slow drive as lion and leopard are regularly seen along it

Yes definitely… plus sightings at either end of the road… I know we’ve had some like that

Ampie Windmill is located a few km from the western end of the S118, and is named after ranger Ampie Espag of Malelane section, last century.
It is normally operational and offers great close-up views of a wide variety of animals in the dry season. There is no shade, though.
The reservoir is at the bottom of the pic, the cement trough at the top.
