The march continued for another couple hundred meters more and junior started to fall behind again, but suddenly the mom’s change in body language got my attention.

“Check mom out, she’s gone into stalk mode”

“There! Some impala are just on the other side of that bush”

The mom left the road in stalk mode, but junior didn’t pick up what was happening and decided to cruise in behind mom and jump around which alerted the impala who started “barking”.

Mom realised it was “game over”, came back across the road and headed down to the Sabie River.

Junior had developed some curiosity, came to check us out and then realised that mom had gone, so also crossed the road at pace and headed down to the river.

The plan had been to look for the local leopard just south of Lower Sabie, but this had been a great 1st sighting for the morning, so we decided to rather turn and head for Tshokwane via the H4-1/H12/H1-2 route as the sighting boards hadn’t indicated much on the H10 since our arrival.

To be continued

Bushcraft,

what extreme cute lion cub and what luck you had with that sighting \O \O \O

Thanks for the hints with the leopards - The summer month can indeed be dense with all the bushes with nearly no view - For us in summer Skukuza is always a leopard ot spot O** at least for one not so many as you always see ;-)
