Every now and then there is a trip like that when you have days where you hardly see anything.
And then even far off cheetahs (or other big cats) are no real consolation.
But at the end of the day, we all go to the Kgalagadi also for this distinctive bush feeling and the ability to wind down.
And all of a sudden quiet days are not so bad anymore lol

The cheetahs... hmmm.... I guess it's the Bantu Boys. Of course, I can't really ID them from that photo, but it's their area now
after Gina's boys pushed them out of the lower Nossob.

Thanks once again for all the comments.

Monday 6 June 2022

Leaving Kielkrankie that morning we set off towards the Auob River and then south for about 5kms to Kamfersboom before turning around and heading up to Kamqua
We bumbled along just enjoying being in the Auob once again.
The usual suspects were out and about

We were told of two cheetah on the road further ahead, but we never saw them

But the highlight of the morning had to be these suricates near Montrose

We turned at Kamqua and after a nice chat with some friends from Cape Town, we returned to camp

About a kilometre from camp, a huge cape cobra crossed the road in front of us, but was too quick for us to get its photo
While we were searching for the snake, Debbie spotted movement ahead.
2 Pale Chanting Goshawks on the ground.
And a honey badger, who was also too quick for our lens

We eventually got back to Kieliekrankie and breakfast / lunch

Thanks guys 0/*

For our afternoon drive, we decided to return to the Auob in search of the leopards we saw last time we were in the park
Well we all know that lightning doesn’t strike twice in the same place :o0ps:

We did, however have a pretty amazing drive

First up was a swallow tailed bee-eater posing beautifully for us

A bit further out a crimson breasted boubou stopped bouncing around for long enough for us to get a decent pic of it

With another bee-eater watching the suricates, probably hoping that they flush out a few insects
