Finally KTP

We spent the afternoon cooling off by the pool as always, but this time pondering on which direction we should take for our last drive. There was a definite chance of seeing leopard along the Auob, whilst the lions had been parking off above Rooiputs along the Nossob riverbed.

After much discussion we decided to head up the Nossob way first and see if the lions were still around. Along the way we had a nice gemsbok on the ridge line and a pale chanting goshawk close by





I finally remembered to take a pic of KTP's famous tree with all its sociable weaver nests



Soon after we found an ostrich family. There were loads of youngsters - too many to count as they were so well hidden amongst the long grass





We approached Rooiputs with anticipation, but the lions must have moved on. There was nothing else all the way to Kij Kij so we crossed the dune road to see what might be waiting on the Auob side. Along the dune road we stopped for a nice big mole snake







Once on the Auob side, it didn't take us long to catch up with Kutyhilwa again between Kamfersboom and Monro, and she was now on the move







It was fun watching her stalk pretty much anything that moved. I'm sure some of the things she chased after must have just been shadows, but it made for a lively cat

Fundamentally I agree with you but if scientists or groups are discussing leopards it is practical if they have a name, if not you must give them a number

For me it’s just easier to use the name rather than “that leopard which we first saw on day 2 by the tree” etc

Cats for me are also very unique - during the multiple sightings of her we got to see some of her traits that totally distinguish her from other leopards.
