Last weekend drove along the Kruger National Park fence from Letaba Ranch to the Little Little Letaba River....the ENTIRE fence to Kruger is GONE! Roads going into Kruger, imagine the poaching? Cattle grazing in a national reserve, Lekgalameetse reserve cattle as well...
Deserted ranger station, gate gone, fence gone....

Re: Missing Fences
The whole country is falling to pieces, so why should Kruger be any better It's been going downward for a long time

KNP FENCE ASSESSMENT AT MATSULU AND AREAS ALONGSIDE NUMBI GATE
South African National Parks (SANParks) and the Mpumalanga Parks and Tourism Agency (MTPA) undertook a physical assessment of the Kruger National Park (KNP) fence from Numbi Gate alongside communities adjacent to the park up to Matsulu on Saturday, 09 March 2024. The assessment was done after several reports of elephant venturing into the communities to feed, sparking fears of the wild animals causing damage to crop and injuring community members.
The team comprised scientists and conservation officials in the form of Section Rangers and Regional Rangers. Their observation concluded that there is a need to send technical teams to the area to finalise the scope of work and have a contractor on site as from April 2024. The construction of the fence is expected to take at least eight months.
The initiation of this project is consistent with SANParks’ overall approach of building and solidifying relations with communities adjacent to national parks. Discussions with communities and key stakeholders are in the pipeline to co-develop the building program and construction. Engagements with communities and stakeholders are also intended to facilitate dialogue and guidance as well as buy-in to safeguard the fence from being vandalised.

Re: Missing Fences
The usual story! They could have done it months or more ago, when it all started
