That sounds like my Garmin which was a rather funny incident and will be splained when I complete my travel tail of our June trip.iNdlovu wrote:Here's one for you BH..... a 95 k race in Skukuza camp
95 K around Skuks will be a lot of laps though. Why not just make it around the conference center. Dress code, ethnic. Lion cloths and the like and we can arrange a mass demonstration while Dr Mabunda is presenting his latest hair brained scheme to re route the N4 through Kruger to attract more tourists.

Wolf , Hanri Ehlers referred to in the excerpt of the letter you have posted on the previous page is a friend of mine. In fact, a year or so ago I alerted her to AW. Why does your post seems so ... hmmm, familiar as far as writing style is concerned?

Re: Riverbed cycle challenge in Kgalagadi
A month after we first posed questions, they remain unanswered. Even 10 days after a promised reconsidered response, we still can’t get a response about when to expect to see that response! But the questions don’t go away. For instance:
1. Which qualified staff (e.g. section rangers, ecologists, biologists, etc) were involved in the decision to go ahead with implementing the cycle event?
2. Given that an EIA for another project in the KTP has described the riverbed as “sensitive for disturbance” and suggested that “disturbance should be kept to the minimum”, isn’t it clear that if the cycle event has to be held inside the park (which I don’t think it does) it should be anywhere except in the pristine fossilised riverbed?
3. Where the event diverts off the road into a no-go zone (in terms of the zonation maps attached to the KTP management plan), why was no EIA carried out?
4. If a reconnaissance ride was undertaken in June 2011, and a promotional video advertising the event was posted on Facebook in July 2011, why was no management plan drawn up 18 months ago?
5. If the organisers consulted with the EWT about raptors, why not consult other experts about possible effects on other creatures, particularly those that live in the soil of the riverbed? And if such experts were consulted, why have the organisers been so keen to trumpet the EWT’s approval but remained silent on any other experts that were consulted?
I have lots more questions. You can see the full list here: http://www.roxannereid.co.za/1/post/201 ... event.html
If the outcome is going to be positive, I can show patience, but I wish someone would please let me know for how long I will still have to be patient. A week? A month? A year?

With SANParks at the helm, you will be lucky to even get an answer. In situations such as this they tend not to discuss the issue and hope that it gets forgotten.
Sometimes it’s not until you don’t see what you want to see, that you truly open your eyes.

Hey annie, have you checked out the below. You may need patience and may never get an answer as per the below which is at question 105 and many date back a few yearsannie wrote:

The Kalagadi is a TOTALLY different set up to the 'Local Nature Reserve ala Krugersdorp Game Reserve ...It is Wilderness and fragile tooBunnyHugger wrote:Lisbeth wrote:
Once again playing devils advocate Lis, just for the sake of debate:
I have had the dubious distinction of riding (several times), in a local nature reserve. It is the most awesome thing to combine two of my passions and ride around this nature reserve.

I am not worried about cyclists getting chomped...it makes brilliant reading in You Magazine and Tv News...its the DAMAGE TO THE ENVVIRONMENT and spoiling other people enjoymentMel wrote:I haven't read through the posts made while I was gone.
But being freshly back from the KTP and having seen lions all over the place exactly where the cycle challenge is supposed to take
place, I seriously wonder how everyone - including the animals will come out alive...

Re: Riverbed cycle challenge in Kgalagadi
Ja, annie! It all depends on how uncomfortable the questions are! Assuming you asked on SpForums, Lesego may pick up on them all and forward to the spokesperson of the relevant Park...don't know if KTP has one. Then her job is done. If the Spmods deem it really important but tricky, they will send on to Mr Thakhuli (SanParks spokesperson) in a tactful way. An ambiguous stalling reply will be forthcoming, or a red-herring reply focussing on a segment of the question/s, or a vicious attack on the integrity of the one asking the question.
If the question is obviously unfavourable to SanParks and reveals serious paradoxes etc., Mr Thakhuli or an informant who watches here and there will spot it first and try to find out what the hell is going on, in my experience, and block any answer...end of story.
