Sad news about Casper and his brothers.

Great leopard sighting...and at least you managed to get some pics of the falling kill and jump!

So lucky to get the AWC drinking...we didn't see any at Satara.

TB or no TB, Casper does look old

Put the camera on "Automatic". The photos might not come out perfect, but at least they come out The "take off" pic is great though

I have seen a kitty drinking, but in KTP not in KNP and it was dark and you can only see that it's a wild cat if you know it

Now the speed is OK

what a great afternoon / evening drive - We do same normally the other way round in the morning but that sounds also like an option for an earlier afternoon drive during our next trip

A pity that Sweni was empty but must say in February same was not having that much water anymore than in previous years What a fantastic leopard sighting you were rewarded with and simply love the AWC shot now from inside camp

All 4 of these lions are getting on in years and I have since heard that 2 of them, Casanova & Mfowethu have tested positive for TB, so their condition is deteriorating rapidly, but Casper & Footloose results came back negative, however for how long that will remain the case is anyone’s guess, so there may be some new male lions taking over the Satara area in the near future.

We saw Casper and one of the brothers in August.
The brother was limping quite badly and Casper looks quite beat up.
Not nice to see these majestic animals in this state

It is nice walking around Satara as the veld is so open outside!

One can get lost in those Satara circles in the dark, so I stick to the fence lines now

I can't spell. The Cow is the auditor ..............and applies censorship at times

I actually thought that I had captured perfect pics of the entire leopard jump sequence, so my teeth were hanging out at the time, but that changed once I dumped the pics from camera. It's still a sore point as it was a prefect opportunity

We were lucky with our timing for those AWC sightings. 10 minutes either way on both nights and would have missed all of them.

I tried the automatic camera story, but the focus points go crazy and the camera thinks that I'm trying to take a pic of a bush rather than the leopard in the bush, so I duff even more pics when using auto

Our timing was lucky for the AWC sighting, minutes either way and we wouldn't have even seen it.

The weekend is coming, people have more time and can read faster

I'm never sure which way round to do the S100/S41/H6 loop, but I'm not a major fan of the H6, so prefer to get it out the way and spend the later/better hour/s on the S41/S100. It's a dust storm into the setting sun when returning to camp on the S100 though.

I'm definitely going to stalk the Satara fence line at night again

Yes the 1 brother was limping and agreed it's not nice to witness the failing state.

Casper is beat up and he has an old leg injury, but he's not doing too badly for his age. I just hope that he can remain TB free. I fear this coalition is down from 4 to 2 or 3 already.
