I think it is such a shame.
There are many knowledgable people "on the other side". And there is a huge amount of great info there.
If it wasn't for the "issues"........

For my pennies worth I would suggest that sanparks cancellation fee policy should be on an increasing percentage the closer to your dates of arrival:

Within 4 months of arrival date forfeit 10% of your deposit
Within 3 months of arrival date forfeit 25% of your deposit
Within 2 months of arrival date forfeit 50% of your full fee as the remaining 50% has had to be paid by now.
Within 1 month of arrival date forfeit 75% i.e. your full accomodation costs.

The above would not apply if you could produce proof of reason for unavoidable cancellation i.e. health, death, etc..

Yup - good idea.
A lot of other travel destinations have this policy.

I don't think SANParks actually wants us there, they only want our money! :O^

The above line is to ask too much, that is what you have travel assurances for ;-)

An interesting graph showing SANParks bookings vs occupancy from SANParks Planning Framework for National Parks: Improving Governance :-?
