I'm not sure, if they really know better. I understood it the way that
they pulled out after the challenge was moved from the delicate riverbed
to the existing roads.

God put me on earth to accomplish a certain amount of things. Right now I'm so far behind that I'll never die.

Re: Riverbed cycle challenge in Kgalagadi
From SP website:
"South African National Parks (SANParks) has cancelled the Kgalagadi Desert Cycle Tour which was scheduled to take place in September this year.
The tour was first moved from the north of Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park to the south, but after the new proposed route was chosen, interest in the event was lower than anticipated and the decision was made to possibly relocate the tour to Augrabies Falls National Park.
The Desert Cycle Tour is an activity that fits into the Augrabies Falls National Park Management plan and carries the full support of management. By relocating the Tour, participants can also expect significantly longer legs of the tour than what was planned for Kgalagadi. We are currently awaiting confirmation of the various routes from Park management and will keep you updated.

Not sure if this means the idea did not fall into the KTP management plan, or did not carry the full support of management there?

I think they had stick from the Botswana side as the lux lodges will be opening soon at Rooiputs in June, Polentswa in July and union end in August, Just think of having +/- 100 people at those venue's for a new lodge that has opened and all there activities are put on hold
