Here are some photos of Urikaruus, unit 1:
View on the creaky gangways that connects all units on stilts.
View from the deck adjecent to the kitchen.
Kitchen table and chairs from the entrance.
Fridge / freezer, 2 gas hotplate and a hideous cat magnet shirt.
View from the small balcony adjecent to the bedroom.
View from your bed.
Bedroom with the bathroom in the background.
The shower.
The rest of the bathroom.
Unit 1 has unspoilt views on the waterhole from both the balcony and the deck.
It is opposite the camp assistant's unit.
Unit 2 has a tree in front of the balcony, but you can still see the waterhole.
The view from the deck is perfect.
Unit 4 has good views on the waterhole from the deck as well.
Can't comment on the balcony though.

Bats in the units
We stayed in unit 1 from the 24th March 2013 fir 5 nights.
On the day when we arrived I took a shower at about 4pm.
Roughly one our later the shower was infested with bats.
SO & I evacuated round about 40 from the bath- and the bedroom
that day and another 15 the next. Well, 3 were incidentially killed
because they had sat in the the door angles where we hadn't seen
them. When we left on the 29th the unit was bat free and
I hope people will keep the doors shut. I don't wanna do that job
again when I stay there next time. But the place reeks when
you have to keep the windows shut due to rain or heavy storm...
Apparently unit 3 has a bat problem as well.
2 and 4 had the odd bat as well but definitely not as many as we had.

Re: KTP - Urikaruus Wilderness Camp
Shade on the deck
The sunrises half left behind the units and sets to the half right of the units.
So all units have some shade on the deck in the morning. However, later in the
day there is no shade whatsoever on the decks of unit 3 and 4. It's advisable
to bring a parasol or to sit on the gangway behind the unit.
Units 1 and 2 have shade until the sun descends, so not much bother before
sunset.

Maintainance done at Urikaruus in 2016
New entry gates:
Ceiling sealed against the bats (throughout the whole place!):
Marble kitchen top, tiles fixed, new tabs, new stove:
We were told that Urikaruus will definitely have electrical fridge / freezers in the near future. All necessary cables etc. have been laid (or built in). They are now testing how strong the new batteries are that will feed the fridge / freezers.
The new stove, gas fired with electric spark (no more matches needed!)
New headlights at the beds:
Bedroom in general:
Marble counter in the bathroom, new tab and sink, new light - now above the mirrow
New shower cube:
The rear part now belongs to the rest of the bathroom:
Also not the new milky glasses.
The flap in the kitchen was replace by glass, but nothing to black out the sun... And supposedly it's going to be exchanged into milky glass like in the bathroom.

Looks much better, especially kitchen and shower
