Found this asa blast from the past..The seldom seen Junior Coalition of 'Kalahari' on the right and the taller and more timid 'Tsama' on the left..'Tsama was sold to a game farm in Thabazimbi and Kalahari is on the remote Kuzuko section of the Karoo area of Addo..I miss them!!
Here are some pics taken of Valli Moosa, one of the large Addo bull ellies introduced from Kruger.
This was taken in the Addo Main Camp area.
These were taken in the newly opened Southern Section after the fences were dropped in Aug 2010 enabling the ellies to cross over from the Main Camp area
I was able to follow Valli Moose for a few kilometers after he had crossed over into the new area exploring his new territory.
Here are some pics of the Spotted Thick-knee (Spotted Dikkop)
I spotted this pair in the Southern Section. They are terrestrial nocturnal birds hunting for insects on the ground.
They blend in very well with their surroundings where they will stand motionless and are often overlooked.
This pic shows their large eye needed to see at night with.
Thanks to all you folk for you comments, much appreciated
I took a trip to Addo yesterday after first attending A Remembrance Day Service in the morning.
These services are always very special to me.
It was quite in Addo with the odd very light shower of rain
In spite of that this fella posed for me to take a photo of him.
Pumbaa I was thinking of you at the time, so this one is for you
Yesterday's Addo lion effort..this is 'Nomad' ...first time I have met him...justa record shot of him walking from 1 bush to the other to flop down in the grass!!
I love driving about 800 metres ahead of a big ellie, then turn sidways, switch off and put the big lens on the bean bag and let him walk into the frame and take pics until 50.10 metres where here it becomes hard to squeeze all the bits into the frame!! :D
