SAINT PETERSBURG
The church of the saviour on Blood

The inside. They are not paintings, they are all mosaics

L'Hermitage, the famous museum (The winter palace) An incredible collection

The summer Palace of Peter the Great

The summer Palace of Catherine the Great even more
included the inside. The park is beautiful though

From high up they cannot hide the squalor

The river Neva

After having seen the riches and money thrown away by the czars and family you understand perfectly well why the revolution had to arrive. You should see the inside of those places.....but it would need another 10 pics

You have been to places, Lis!
The facade of St. Petersburg looks quite nice.

It is impressive, if you manage to look at it as a kind of museum. It has all been restored and with the tourism that it attracts, I am sure that they will get the money back with interests. Even Catherine's amber room has be re-constructed
Amber from roof to floor in beautiful designs and colours, but...
During the Soviet Union they stored potatoes in the church in the first pic and that one is a real master piece of art and history.
Unfortunately no photos from my first travel experiences they had not invented the camera. They all drowned when our cellar was flooded
