The Lions are still very active in the area. In fact, all of us that live along the river are a bit upset with these big cats. They took down that huge Waterbuck bull that had the strange horns. They measured out at 42 inches, which is 4 inches longer than an award for a trophy hunter.

I got a huge lone male Lion on my way to work on Friday, but no camera with me, and I missed seeing them by minutes, a few times this weekend.

I had quite a pleasant drive this morning, starting off with a Jackal...
I really enjoyed capturing this Burchell's Coucal. It kept trying to hide after it caught a snack, but I stayed put and waited until it appeared from the foliage...
Another special sighting for this area, Yellow-billed Oxpecker. I think it's the first time I have seen them on Grietjie...
The green vegetation makes a great background for Zebra shots...
