0/* Hi Klippies - I’m trying to see what flies I have already posted, so I don’t duplicate them, and noticed a couple of things on the Index of Diptera that need to be updated (now that you’re the Curator of the AW museum O/\ ):

*Muscidae - Musca domestica link takes one to the Long-legged fly Condylostylus sp.
* same for the link for the Hoverfly Eristalinus meg
*the link for the next Hoverfly down after the above says “does not exist”

^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^ THANK YOU - you are doing an absolutely phenomenal job!!!

I have been looking at your mantis and could not see any difference between Oxypiloidea subcornuta and O. tridens and it turns out, that they have been made a synonym, have done a new entry and added your pics from the old post. Can I delete this post now?

Oxypiloidea is identifiable by upright teeth on prothorax, a small pair close together in front and a larger pair separated behind. The pronotum has a markedly toothed edge and the 3rd discoidal spine of anterior femur is markedly lengthened. Mottled and extremely cryptic, with the end of hind wings square, and possessing powerful grasping limbs.

Distribution
KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng and Northern Province, to Zimbabwe and Botswana

*PGW Field Guide identification is O.tridens (??)

This fly belongs to the same group as well, but without wing photo, we can not make a call on genus.

Perhaps ExFmem has more photos?
Here’s another pic - can see the venation better.
