No surprise that there were eland carcasses everywhere in 2012 when / if the lions can just walk up to the elands.

African Lion (panthera leo)
The lion has forever been a symbol of strength, power and ferocity.
The African Lion (panthera leo) is listed as vulnerable.
A species population reduction of approximately 30% is suspected over the past two decades (or approximately three lion generations).

We were staying In Shingwedzi and were the first out of camp. We headed south on the H1-6 and hardly a kilometer from the intersection we found 3 lionesses and 5 playful cubs on the road
Shingwedzi Pride (Video is blocked in some countries)
We did not get too close and stopped when they stopped and Sharifa was videoing through the wind screen. Another car came along and also kept its distance. The male lion appeared from the bushes just as a third car pulled up behind us. The male was heading for the rest of the pride and we and the car next to us decided we will make room for the third car. The idiot made straight for the cubs and lionesses - end of sighting
