We also went to Sossus, and didn't see this scenery, so it is a big area!

My favourite is the piece of string!

That looks so, so beautiful and enticing... SO and I have a plan of a round trip lying in our desk drawer.
It has been sitting there for years, because we can't face going to Namibia and face all the arrogant Germans

Wow, stunning scenery.

It's definitely time to try and resurrect this TR as there was a lot more to it

After our first night camping near Sesriem we spent a day exploring the dunes at Sossusvlei. The drive in is all nice and easy on a dirt road with magnificent views of the dune fields







There's a main car park where the standard vehicles can park, and then access into the different vleis is strictly for 4x4 vehicles. There was a shuttle service but we were poor students so decided to walk

As luck would have it an Israeli couple with a nice air conditioned 4x4 picked us up and gave us a lift to the main area where we were able to explore all the areas

You were lucky to find a lift; it must be rather hot walking around there There are a lot of sand dunes
