When I discussed this with my kids the first thing they all said was “The OSV drivers are the cause of half the traffic jams and chaos in the south”. Warranted, there are many good operators, but they certainly aren’t “ambassadors” if kids can even see problems.
I would like to see how many South Africans visit Kruger because it’s a self drive and therefore affordable wildlife venue. At a guess I’m fairly certain that this applies to the vast majority of South African visitors, so if there’s no more self drive, then one alienates South African citizens from their own parks. Our devaluing rand may still make things attractive to overseas visitors, but I’m sure many only visit due to the self drive and the increase in cost to see the south of Kruger may make other destinations more attractive, or Kruger unaffordable.
The emissions part is just to gain some form of false justification. Millions of humans are exposed to a 1000 times the emissions daily and surely human life is as important.
