Africa Wild Flower Book - Comments, Suggestions, Discussions

Post by okie »

Nice pictures \O Just one question . I notice that they contain a watermark from " www.miraclemoments.co.za " where pictures are being advertised for sale . Are these not copyright pics , and is such a posting in the forum flower book not technically an advert for that web-site ?

Just wonder :-?

0/* okie, all photos in our books are copyrighted, and before we post them to another forum topic, we ask our new members for permission.

And we have always had some watermarked photos here sneaking in a url to a photo website - I don't mind, as long as we see some cool photos here to tell a travel tale, to learn about biodiversity etc.

Dou you disagree :-? then roll on your arguments :-)

Toko , personally it does not really matter . It is merely my impression that this forum should not be used for personal promotion for commercial gain . Now , IMHO , if the watermark on my pics , is my company's logo and contact address , then it means any pic I post would really be an advertisement for my company .
And my question therefore is just about that :-? .

I would draw the line when watermarks, logos on a photo or urls in a sigature are posted here only to advertise, and if the website is not related to nature, conservation etc. As long as the photo is in a travel tale or on the ID topic it serves the purpose of our forum.

And we have several members here who have a link to their websites or blogs and perhaps one can buy photos there, too ;-)

My two cents only, do you want to ask greenies and start a topic?

No Toko I do not want to start a topic .
My attention just naturally " switches off " when I see advertisements . I generally consider it as being intrusive and do not like it being "forced " onto me at every turn I make O/

Good point, okie.

I don't like any watermarks because they are an unfortunate distraction and sometimes disturb the image. So I don't like watermarks, but I can easily understand why some members here use them.

The watermark itself is bad enough , but the advertisement behind it is what switches me off completely , and I loose interest immediately . We have enough intrusive advertising , spam etc in our lives , and then still to have even our " me-time " intruded upon , is just too much O/ .

Someone must find some photos, they are widespread in Namibia.
