This "rule" has more iterations than any other I know. I have heard 600 and 500 before, now 400...BluTuna wrote:Details please

30 seconds (so you could say 450 rule
) @f2.8 and lots of ISO (one at 5000, the other at 8000). Light painting was done by shining a fairly powerful LED headlamp into the palm of my hand, reflecting onto the tree/bush. I have tried flash before, but found it way too powerful. Perhaps it can be used by reflecting or using ND filters though.-

For the benefit of those who don't know what the 400 rule is...
600 rule for full frame, 400 for crop frame (those are the numbers I have heard).
Divide the lens focal length into the number to give the maximum time in seconds for the exposure without blurring the stars.

Peter I normally shoot at iso 6400 at 30 sec at 4.5, I like to go light, if it does and then bring it back down in photoshop, that way I know I will not get grain in the dark area,s
