Yay or Nay: SANParks opens survey on guided game drives
Yay or Nay: SANParks opens survey on guided game drives
South African National Parks (SANParks) has asked visitors to have their say on service offerings in the park in a bid to help improve the service offering in the parks.
"Even if you have not been on a guided game drive with SANParks, we would like to hear from you," SANParks says. "By sharing your thoughts and past experiences, you provide us with valuable insights on how to improve the visitor experience and manage our Parks more effectively."

The survey should not take more than 10 minutes to complete.
The survey comes less than a month after a dispute between public visitors and official guides operating in and around the Kruger National Park.
In September, controversy was sparked after a ranger posted a message to the Guides & Rangers Facebook page, asking members of the public not to report rangers and guides with "little kak complaints".
Members of the public responded with outrage, with some stating that "Not all but 99% of the tour operators are selfish, rude and don't actually care about anything but big game and making a tip..."
SANParks tried to diffuse the situation, saying random social media shaming won't do any good. They encouraged visitors in the park to always include video or photographic evidence to complaint reports about misbehaving guides.

The survey SANParks is conducting asks visitors why they are not inclined to book guided game drives, but also focuses on the availability of universal accessibility and whether this is a problem for guests.
During Tourism Month, SANParks highlighted various ways in which universal accessibility will be improved in SA's national parks. You can read more about it here:7 Ways Universal Accessibility will change in SA over the next 2 years
In 2015 already, SA's national parks made headways for everyone to have access in its tourism offerings, regardless of their physical, intellectual or sensory capabilities, with various natural heritage engagements aimed at the disabled.
Initiatives includes ramps and wheelchair-access pathways in various parks, as well as a statues and wildlife sculptures which blind people can utilize to learn more about the animals.

Re: Yay or Nay: SANParks opens survey on guided game drives
having completed the survey from the sanparks homepage earlier
i would not have linked the survey to the slant that
traveler 24 has taken.
i believe that the survey is only gauging visitors opinions who make use of the sanparks game drives.
i don't believe for one minute that it has anything to with the independent safari operators
and whether the public are being asked to "say yay or nay" to their operation.....
the future is not what it used to be

Re: Guided Game Drives Survey
Absolutely! It is about varying packages...more money. The survey will be used to justify more OSV's IMO, privates "assisting" SP with the shortfall to meet demand for drives.
