Identification

Beeding male: Face mask most commonly black but may be white, surrounded by yellowish or pink band.
Non-breeding male: Bright head features turn brown; throat white, bill remains red.
Female: Similar to non-breeding male, but bill and eye-ring dull yellow in br season.
Juvenile: Like adult female, bill horn brown.
