Not to be outdone by the elephants and baboons, even the crocs got in on the grass eating business. ;-)

Image

There was no aggression apparent with each croc taking it in turns to grab a mouthful.

The light was now perfect for catching the crocs in action.

We left the crocs to enjoy the rest of their meal as they were watched by one of the survivors of the stampede from the other day.

Image

Cattle egrets were busy gleaning insects disturbed by feeding elephants.

Image

And white-faced ducks were gathering together ready to head off to roost.

We headed over to the main bank at this point. There was a trio of young male lions busy feeding on a young elephant. The light was glorious as we approached.

Lovely sightings, at a brisk pace! ^Q^

Ja, I suppose the crocs aren't competing anymore after polishing off 7 buffs in a row! =O:

Wonder if the lions killed the elephant, they do that in Bots, you know!

Thanks for commentine RP, Lis & Nan. \O X#X

RP - The ellie had been reported as having something wrong with it over the previous days and was not looking very well the night before. They found it in the morning with the lions feeding on it, so no one was certain if the lions put it out of its misery or wether they found it already dead?

I like your optimism Nan. O** lol

Lis - A rump steak sounds good. I'm hungry now. lol

One of the three young male lions was obviously full after feeding all day and did not go to the carcass the whole time we were there. The other two were still feeding but were obviously full and paid more attention to the gathering flotilla of boats around them than to the meat at their paws.

Eventually the sun dipped low on the horizon and the light faded slowly.

We made our way back to the lodge in the gathering darkness and packed our bags ready for checking out the following morning.
