Alf wrote: Fri Aug 30, 2019 5:02 pm If we have a few headings per picnic area then every person can vote per picnic site what they liked or not

Then the score should be more accurate
How does this work?

I have to rate every picnic spot in different categories?
Yes. And then you can vote every picnic area in all these categories that you have visited
:ty:

Hard work but better than just a poll without reasoning lol

As you know by now, I do not agree O**

We have already tried and what happened? It was not the best camp that won, but the one with most facilities O**

graham wrote: Fri Aug 30, 2019 7:09 pm I have a few comments on the way the camp poll worked and which may be applicable to other polls.

When you have a number of criteria, the scores for each are important - it doesn't not make sense to have a combined or total score.
The lowest rating should be "one" to avoid confusion with "zero" or "blank" where people may feel the category is not applicable.
The average should be calculated excluding any "blanks" (and by definition "zeros")

The admin work is a lot easier if you put all the responses in a single list or database (where order is not important) and use the "averageifs" function to calculate the results. And please, not to two decimal places!
Would you be able to do this, graham? ..0.. ^Q^

To avoid this you have to put different weight on the categories.

For instance:

40% general/overall appeal
10% quiet, crowded, noise, litter
10% scenic
10% eco (water, energy, sustainable products, waste)
10% game/bird viewing
20% services and products (more than only tables and toilets)

and there will be different perceptions, so best way is, to come up with catergories and then poll on their weight

a poll on what matters most: three votes per person and a shortlist of max. 10 categories

In order to make it more interesting?

I still haven't seen anything that would make the competition more equal.

More reliable because the important categories have more weight.

Maybe you hate commercial places such as Afsaal and Tshokwane, then you can put more weight on the category "quiet", if you like them and enjoy the good restaurant, curio, spa etc, you put more weight on services and products.

That comes also out with a simple poll. If Afsaal wins, it means that the majority prefers a noisy place, but with more on offer.
