Oh WOW, just wow ^Q^ So many entertaining/informative pics. The weavers collecting all the various insects is quite impressive, so :ty: for documenting all the hard work parents have to do to provide for their offspring. O\/

Lake Panic is such an iconic part of Kruger, so again, :ty: for bringing back some lovely memories. O0

Lake panic is one of my favourite spots in Kruger. Apart from being beautiful, there is always something to see.

Sorry about the lack of🐆🐆 :-(

Lovely sightings again, Pumbaa! \O

(I thought weavers ate seeds... :o0ps: )

Sorry about the heat, it messes a person up until you get a bit more used to it, but nothing like relaxing on the stoep with a cold one! X#X

Great jacana baby shot! ^Q^

It was in fact pure joy to photograph the weavers collecting only the best for their offspring \O

Yes, we somehow could arrange with the heat but 40 degrees is definitely not my comfort temperature O**

On that day we were even surprised somewhere by a wonderful rhino sighting. First the two of them stayed a bit hidden in the vegetation but after a while first the nearly grown calf crossed the street

Image

followed by its mother. It is such a precious moment whenever such grey beauties came across.

Image

Although it was meanwhile only 08.00 o’clock it was one of those days where it was at that time of the day already that unbearably hot so we were prepared that the sightings might not be that plentiful that day so we better concentrate again on waterholes or dams which might come across which turned out to be a wise decision.

At least first we were held up by an elephant herd out of which most of the members

Image

were feeding

Image

and luckily we again spotted a klipspringer on one of the large koppies along the way

Image

before we reached Leeupan where we still noted an elephant herd who just left the pan and it looked as if still a bit water was left but only in the background as in front a large grass wall was hiding the water at least the warthog revealed that there was still water left.

Image

We were about to change our position when we were stopped by a couple in a car who told us about lions come and go but same had just been chased away by the elephants so if we might wait they might come out again. As it still was early and we are normally patient we waited but in fact not that long when we noted a movement between a couple of bushes in the shade

Image

and we still had the hope that at least one of them might show up although we had no high expectations as the temperatures still were rising so we in between photographed one of the black smith plovers.

Image

We then in fact had luck as one of the lionesses popped out of the bushes and even came closer and closer only to turn around to join again the other members of the pride in the shade

Image

Image

but only shortly another lioness appeared on the scene and she also came closer and closer

Image

under the watchful eyes of an impala whilst the other impalas stayed understandably a bit in the background.

The lioness investigated something behind / under a large bush and we thought she might check out a hidden kill in a large prominent bush and she even came out with something in her jaw but that was definitively not a bite from a kill but an extreme small cub which she carried away

Image

and another one of my dream sightings came true as I so much wanted to see at least once a lioness carrying a small cub but same was not willing to be carried away as the small cutie started to flounder after a while and the lioness had to put the little cub on the ground

Image

only to try another gentle grab to continue in bringing the cub to the others which she did but she throw the little cutie more than lovelessly to the other members of the pride in the shade of the bushes. We never found out how many lions there were as we only saw one lioness at the moment but it must have been several.

Image

Meanwhile more cars shared this sighting with us and as the lions kept out of sight for another while we concentrated on the impalas who wanted to quench their thirst but for sure were alert about of the lions in the bushes

Image

and some even drank a bit water but most of them kept a watchful eye onto the lions.

Image

Suddenly even one of the lionesses started an attack

Image

whilst the impalas dashed away into each direction and we simply were fascinated by the power, muscles and even speed of the lioness

Image

Image

but it was obviously only a mock attack or she was unsuccessful

Image

as she gave up her attack only to look behind the missed opportunity

Image

Image

so she walked back to the others in the shade.

Image

to be continued.................................

What an episode, Pumbaa! ^Q^

Rhino, of all things! O/\

(I think the mom might be a male?)

Klipspringer always nice!

And lion at Leeupan, not actually that common despite the name! :-0 lol

Lovely that your life dream was made, plus great action shots. They can't resist impala sometimes but very rarely catch them... ;-)
