I totally lost track but it's probably just what we did - only with a cheetah in our case lol

Terrorists... I'm surprised the forum let us use the word here at all =O:

Oh, and another pelican :-0
22 different leopard, 27 sightings. 5 twice, the Cow's leopard just south of Lower Sabie x 2 (1st and 2nd day in), Sausage x 2, once already on Lubyelubye and 1 more coming later, Thicky Ricky x 2 (the drinking leopard and in the road when we named him), Nkuhlu male x 2 still coming and the little female just south of the S79 x 2 (the curled up one in the tree just posted and 1 more still coming) ;-)

Terrorists =O: =O: I never thought of that, maybe somebody is watching me now =O:

There's a bigger pelican the next day due to a rock O/

I do love leopards but they obviously are not that willing to pose for us \O I am always happy when other people do have luck in finding them O/\ O/\ O/\

Great shots of the lions on the rocks and those horrible loud neighbours is also a horror for me O/ O/ O/

The golf club restaurant sound more and more a must for me as I do not need a waiter service overall the meal should taste good and we should be filled up lol lol lol
What you guys see in summer amazes me, if you visited in August/September you would probably see as many cats \O but then many of the birds are missing :-(

I understand the kids are excited, but those parents obviously have no idea or little respect for others to allow their kids to shout at a leopard sighting. @#$

=O: =O: It seems the golf club will be fine, during the week is best, grab a white card with the menu on as you walk in, tick what you want to chow, wait and see if they have it, tick again, they have it O\/ and will bring you the chow X#X

24th Lower Sabie to Skukuza

We woke to an even colder day and the wind was pumping, so the walk to the public ablutions and the car packing mission wasn’t pleasant. It was also Heritage Day, so besides the fact it was school holidays, it was also a public holiday, and therefore I was very nervous about what the day would bring.

We drove out of Lower Sabie just after 6am and there was a mini traffic jam at Sunset Dam already as a clan of hyena were charging around shrieking their heads off. I ducked past the main part of the clan to escape the early gang of cars and one of the Rats quickly snapped a pic of 1 hyena on the edge of the chaos before moving on.

We stopped again at Lubyelubye rocks as a few lion cubs were sitting on the top, but as we drove into the little dirt loop 2 got up and ducked over the back of the rocks, however 1 junior hung around long enough for us to manage a proof pic in the bad light.

Around 2km later we stopped for a male lion in thick bush and another blurred proof pic is all we could get as the cameras just wouldn’t focus on the lion through the twigs in the dark conditions.

I was about to pull off when the lion suddenly started roaring and the Cow got in a flap as she likes to video the roaring, but fortunately he let rip again. He then got up and headed down into the riverbed and out of sight, so I pulled off, however hit the brakes again 200m up the road as 3 males were heading straight towards us.

The first guy abruptly started jogging towards us, so I hit a frantic reverse and then he suddenly charged off after an impala on the road up ahead, but the impala did a left/right side step and ducked off behind my car and this was too much for the male who lost his footing while trying to follow and slipped on his pip which got the Rats howling with laughter, however I was less enthused

“Who got pics of that while I was reversing?”

The silence wasn’t what I was looking for, but the Cow did get some of it on video.

Our focus then turned to the 3rd male who was closer now and everybody thought that he was rather faulty looking, so it didn’t surprise me when the Cow started chirping the Rats to watch their window.

The last male was the biggest chap, but he had a peaceful looking face, so he didn’t cause the same stir as he walked past us.

The last male had a few cars following him so we just parked off and let the gang go past because the lions soon ducked off into the riverbed in exactly the same place we had seen the 1st male.

We then remembered how close we were to the Lubyelubye pride and if these guys continued south there may be a major problem, so I turned and we slowly headed back towards Lubyelubye to confirm, however after waiting for 10 minutes at the 1st open view over the riverbed it became obvious that they weren’t heading this way anytime soon.

We then decided it would be a safer bet to quickly head back to Lower Sabie for the loo as it was only 4km away before starting out for Skukuza again.

On the way back out of Lower Sabie I stopped at Sunset Dam for 10 minutes so that the Cow and Rats could photograph some of the locals.
